Former Bachelor contestant Chris Soules was arrested Monday night after allegedly fleeing the scene of a fatal accident, local ABC affiliate KWWL reports. Soules abandoned his truck in the ditch and left the scene on foot, the report said.
The crash occurred about 15 miles away from the reality star's farm in Arlington, Iowa.
Soules, 35, was officially charged on Tuesday with leaving the scene of a fatal accident. Arresting officers from Buchanan County Sheriff's Office found alcoholic beverage containers in the vehicle at the time of the crash, according to the report.
Chris Soules, the stylish farmer from Iowa, starred in the 19th edition of ABC's hit romance reality series, "The Bachelor", in 2015.
Hartmann noted that the tractor driver, who has not been identified, was an older man that was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, where he was pronounced dead.
Soules was arrested a little past 1 AM this morning (April 25) for leaving the scene of the crime after police spent hours obtaining a search warrant.
Soules' rep, Stan Rosenfield, also released a statement to ET following his release from jail. Officers say the truck collided into the rear of the tractor, sending both vehicles into roadside ditches.
Soules will also be subject to electronic monitoring. It's unlikely that Chris Soules or his lawyer will be able to talk their way out of the charges, especially with the alcoholic beverage containers since being discovered.
The sheriff's office isn't releasing additional information at this time.
March 18, 2001: Soules was found guilty of failing to maintain control of his vehicle and paid a fine.
Soules had his initial court appearance today in Buchanan County. "I'm keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers, especially the victim and his family".
Soules was arrested, with bail set at $10,000.
The Arlington native first gained attention on Andi Dorfman's season of "The Bachelorette" in 2014. He initially proposed to Whitney Bischoff but the pair called off their engagement shortly after.
