In a recent interview with Fandango, the former WWE star spoke about playing Black Adam and the discussions he's had with those at DC. "That's in the cards".
While Shazam is the title character that was announced to be getting a movie previously, Johnson was announced as being cast as Black Adam before many other characters. I don't know if he's interested, and by the way, the studio doesn't even know that we've been having these conversations. It's an exciting time right now for everyone at DC because they are in a process now where they are building out [their DC universe] really nicely. Shazam, which is scheduled to hit the screens in 2019, was initially planned as the first film to introduce Black Adam. At this point, our best guess would probably be Justice League.
When Black Adam is finally introduced in the DC extended Universe - which the actor teased will be happening sooner than later - he will locking horns with none other than the Kryptonian legend, Superman. He's been doing some strong work recently in movies like Mine and Free Fire and we'd love to see all these rumors come true and have him join the DCEU officially.
The Rock has been attached to play Black Adam since 2008 and was originally supposed to play the character in the much-anticipated Shazam movie, which has been in development for quite some time now. "We're excited for what the future brings", he wrote before adding a slew of hashtags. "I'm not even gonna tell you his name, I'm just gonna say Lone Ranger".
No, according to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, there is another mash-up being eyed by DC and Warner Bros.
"One of the most powerful anti-heroes on the planet is coming". Brace yourself for BLACK ADAM! Joe sequel. Johnson has Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle set for a Christmas 2017 release; he's now filming Rampage; a Big Trouble in Little China remake is rumored; while Skyscraper, a hostage-action-thriller, is also on his schedule for 2018.
