The iconic model and actress was famed for her relationships with not just Richards but his Rolling Stones' bandmate Brian Jones as well.
Anita's close friend Stella Schnabel posted a moving tribute on Instagram, writing: 'I have never met a woman quite like you Anita. After the concert she offered Brian Jones some hashish and they returned to his hotel room, beginning a two-year-long relationship. It was speculated that she also had an affair with frontman Mick Jagger, a rumor Pallenberg always denied.
She resumed acting in her 60s making a cameo in Absolutely Fabulous in 2001 and appearing in the 2007 film Mister Lonely. She was the flower of evil in the Stones' orbit, the baddest of bad girls - her grin declared she knew more about sin than any of these English schoolboys had ever imagined.
Pallenberg has always been known for her rebellious spirit: She started modelling at 16 after being expelled from boarding school in Germany.
After achieving sobriety, Pallenberg spent the latter part of her life developing a love of horticulture and art.
During her time with the Stones, Pallenberg became a muse for the band.
"But you gotta believe me that there was no option". She and Keith dated from that point onwards. In her teens, she began modeling and, according to the Guardian, even spent time at Andy Warhol's Factory in NY.
Pallenberg passed away on Tuesday evening with the cause of death yet to be revealed.
Anita and Keith's troubled relationship was documented in the Rolling Stones guitarist's autobiography Life. Pallenberg rose to global fame as part of the ultra bohemian traveling troupe of ur-rock royalty, with social ties that stretched from the Dolce Vita set in Rome to Andy Warhol's factory. The couple remained together until 1980 with Richards recounting their tumultuous relationship in his 2010 memoir Life.
Described as the woman who "almost broke up The Rolling Stones", Pallenberg was revered as a huge influence on sixties subculture. "She scared the trousers off me". Her friend Marianne Faithfull used to call her "Glenda Hindenburg". Sources tell me a lifetime of substance trouble finally caught up with her.
