Tyler became emotional as she described her realization that she had to give up the daily talk show. "It's been the hardest decision of my life and you guys are my family and I love being with you every day".
In a statement, CBS Entertainment and Television Distribution's evp, daytime programs and syndicated program development Angelica McDaniel said, "Saying goodbye to Aisha is a bittersweet moment for all of us at CBS daytime and The Talk".
Tyler also recently made her feature directorial debut with "Axis", which she said prompted a realization about the trajectory of her career and the current significance of female directors.
The daytime TV show "The Talk" is losing one of its co-hosts.
"Coming here is such a joy that it doesn't feel like work to me", she added, regarding her spot at the Talk table. "At the end of the season, I'm gonna be leaving the show".
"I just realized I had to let something go", she said on Thursday's episode, shaking and fighting back tears. "That that was what I wanted to put my energy into and I started to think about it and I didn't see how that would work because (of my schedule)".
"I loved directing. and I knew, I think, that that was what I wanted to do with the rest of my life", she continued. Currently, she is directing her first film on top of her three other shows. Last year, Tyler used her spot on the show to announce the end of her 23-year marriage to Jeff Tietjens amid tabloid reports that the two had separated.
The actress got a little verklempt Thursday as she made her announcement.
