Prices for the Jaguar E-Pace start in the United Kingdom at 28,500 Pounds, which translates to around Rs 23.77 lakh.
The E-Pace completed its world record jump at ExCeL in London, one of only a handful of venues in the United Kingdom big enough to accommodate the 525-foot run-up and run-off, vital for the 50-foot leap. The rear too gets an apparent inspiration from the F-Pace, thanks to the similar design of the LED taillights, though the windscreen is a bit steeply raked on the E-Pace.
"And as soon as you get into it you feel you're not in just another practical SUV, you're in something very special, very drivable but above all, something that's very exciting". More noticeably, there's a sports stick shifter instead of Jaguar's rising rotory gear selector.
The five-door, five-seater will be built in Austria, rather than at Halewood, UK alongside the Discovery Sport and its Range Rover Evoque sibling.
Ian Callum, Jaguar's director of design, said the E-Pace is not a smaller-scale version of the F-Pace.
For the frugally minding, the 110kW diesel uses 5.6-litres per 100km but the higher-powered petrol model is an 8.0L/100km proposition.
Now it appears Jaguar is starting to fill in the gaps in the increasingly lucrative SUV market with its own five-seat compact SUV, known as the E-Pace, that will take on the likes of the BMW X1 and Audi Q3.
The designers have ensured that the overall design of the vehicle is unique yet familiar so that people relate it with the baby version of the F-Pace. Those gains were mostly on the strength of the brand's first crossover, the F-Pace. The E-Pace 4,395mm long with a wheelbase of 2,681mm.
"Here is an all-wheel-drive compact performance SUV that has the precision and body control to make the E-PACE as rewarding for the driver as it is comfortable for the passengers".
Created to combine practicality and sports auto dynamics, Jaguar's second SUV model will be priced from just under $39,000 in the U.S.
There are two model lines, each available with S, SE and HSE equipment grades: standard and R-Dynamic, the latter having a slightly more aggressively styled front end.
"Elsewhere, look for a wide range of premium amenities and connectivity technologies, such as a gesture-controlled tailgate, a multi-purpose Activity Key that can replace the traditional ignition key, configurable ambient lighting, a 12.3" full-colour digital TFT instrument panel, a central InControl Touch Pro infotainment system with 10" touchscreen and apps, plus a 4G LTE hot spot for up to eight devices. The F-Pace is a handsome, award winning machine, and the stakes for the E-Pace to make a name for itself was high, so Jaguar went to the extreme with their introduction of the vehicle.
