Cayetano explained that the only reason the Philippines refuses to invite Special Rapporteur Agnes Callamard is because she had already prejudged the human rights situation in the country and even referred to President Duterte as a murderer.

A U.S. official said Asian leaders who met Trump at the United Nations General Assembly in NY last week helped persuade him to attend in unity with key Asian allies.
"We confirm US President Donald Trump's visit to the Philippines this November", Abella said in a statement. "We call on the UN to revoke the membership of Philippines at the UN HRC, especially as it continues its hardheaded position against any UN investigation on the killings", Philippine UPR Watch said in a statement.
According to Abella, the Philippines is hoping to host a productive event and make it pleasant to the foreign leaders.
The US president will be accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump.
Aside from the Philippines, Trump is set to visit China, Japan, South Korea and Vietnam to discuss the nuclear threat of North Korea.
"President Trump's visit underscores the improving relations between the Philippines and the United States, which no less than Secretary of State Rex Tillerson told me is on an upward vector", he added, saying Tillerson also described relations between the Philippines and the USA to be strong and irreversible in his interview by National Public Radio in Washington last Thursday.
"The president's engagements will strengthen the global resolve to confront the North Korean threat and ensure the complete, verifiable, and irreversible denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula", the White House said in announcing the trip.
The Philippines is ready to welcome independent experts from the United Nations who would conduct an objective assessment of the country's human rights situation, Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano said. "The president's engagements will strengthen the global resolve to confront the North Korean threat and ensure the complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula".
President Donald Trump will grace the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit and Related Meetings that will be held in the Philippines in November, Malacañang confirmed on Saturday. He has warned North Korea would face total devastation if it threatens the United States. "We're not turning our back on human rights", the Secretary clarified.
