WWE's Hell In A Cell pay-per-view returns this Sunday, October 9th, and while last year's event was a Raw exclusive, 2017's sees some of SmackDown's biggest stars go at it inside the imposing structure.
SmackDown Live kicks off with an interview with the King of Strong Style, Shinsuke Nakamura.
The former Universal Champion confronted the Smackdown commissioner from the audience at the Pepsi Center in Denver after McMahon announced that their upcoming bout would be under falls count anywhere rules, meaning, that either man could claim victory outside the ring via either pinfall or submission. Owens then walked all the way back to the ring and grabbed a mic, cutting a promo on McMahon, who later followed by limping down the steps through the crowd. Or a watered-down show filled with recaps and uninspired matches.
Nakamura was speaking with announcer Renee Young about how Mahal's controversial comments did not hurt him until he was interrupted by Mahal's henchmen, The Singh Brothers. Will the winners be in line for a Tag Team Title shot? Her partner, Charlotte Flair, challenges Natalya for the SmackDown Women's Championship this Sunday at Hell in a Cell.
The rest of the event's card is solid as well and could provide some possible show-stealing matches as well. After the match, AJ Styles taunted Corbin on the TitanTron for "squandering another opportunity. because you have the ability of a thoroughbred but the attitude of a jackass".
Rusev's backstage celebration after beating Orton was very humorous and English singing in honor of Rusev Day continued the humorous trend. Owens then entered the arena and made his way back down to the ring while Shane McMahon recovered.
Before Kevin Owens even gets to the ring, Shane McMahon addresses their Hell in a Cell match in just five days. The hatred between the two was, of course, cemented by Owens' recent cowardly attack on Shane's father, WWE owner Vince McMahon.
Chasing down Owens, Shane got caught in a sneak attack, eventually finding himself power-bombed through a merchandise table. There is no match I want to see more on the show, and SmackDown has done a great job keeping fans interested in a hot rivalry despite the fact that it's been lengthened to such an extreme degree.
