He was the game's leading rusher with 86 yards on nine carries.
Carolina is coming off a road stretch where the team played four road games in five weeks, finishing 3-1 away from home. Things would have looked really different had Falcons' receiver not dropped what would have been a 39-yard touchdown with eight minutes remaining in the game, but luckily for the Panthers the All-Pro receiver couldn't bring it in despite being 10 yards clear of a defender.
For most of the first half of the Panthers' first game since trading Kelvin Benjamin, Carolina's offense didn't amount to much.
Reigning NFL MVP Matt Ryan threw two touchdowns, including one in the fourth quarter for the Atlanta Falcons, but his last ditch effort would not be enough to come back over the Carolina Panthers, who utilized a strong second quarter and two third quarter field goals from Graham Gano to hold on and defeat Atlanta, 20-17.
The Panthers are now tied with Pittsburgh for the most road wins this season at four. Atlanta leads the all-time series with Carolina, 27-17. The Falcons were looking like they were the better team in the first half, then Atlanta does what it does best: blow leads. Adams left the game in the fourth quarter with a shoulder injury, however, and wasn't involved in the Panthers' final stop. This time, the run play went to the right but ended with the same result as the defense stopped Devonta Freeman. He also had a sack to increase his seasonal total to 6.5.
Falcons fans were frustrated about Jones, but just as frustrated with their 2017 Super Bowl runners-up as a whole, as the Panthers rallied from a 10-0 hole to win their second straight game and improve to 6-3.
While it is not all on the play calling it should be noted that the Falcons continue to get cute and refuse to make the easy calls like running the ball on short yardage downs.
