Taylor sent her fans into a frenzy when she dropped her highly-expected album on November 10 especially after hearing the first track called This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things. "Big reputation, big reputation, you and me we got big reputations", Swift chants, finally answering the question that's been at the tip of our awaiting tongues: what kind of reputation does Ms.
Swift began her campaign for "Reputation" by breaking a YouTube record of most views in 24 hours with her song "Look What You Made Me Do".
Taylor also discussed the inspiration for her sixth studio effort and included a cover of Tom Petty's American Girl to pay tribute to the late legendary songwriter.
Taylor fisrst references how she reclaims narratives with Kanye she would rather be excluded from in 'End Game", saying, "And I bury hatchets, but I keep maps of where I put "em".
The song is sung in autotune, one of Kanye's favorite musical styles. "They're burning all the witches, even if you aren't one / They got their pitchforks and proof / Their receipts and reasons / They're burning all the witches, even if you aren't one / So light me up". "It was so nice being friends again / There I was giving you a second chance / But you stabbed me in the back while shaking my hand", she sings, referencing their fateful phone call about Famous that West's camp recorded and later posted to smear her as duplicitous.
It doesn't take a detective to decipher that Swift is referring to the infamous phone call over the lyrics to his song "Famous", which involved Kim Kardashian West leaking an conversation between the Grammy victor and her husband last summer.
She then takes a low but effective blow with an apparent reference to the broken friendship between Kanye and Jay Z after Kanye made negative comments about Beyoncé.
She references the calls again in 'This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things'. "But I'm not the only friend you've lost lately / If only you weren't so shady".
Now, she is addressing their feud in Reputation.
" And so I took an axe to a mended fence". Just as "Blank Space" made fun of the rumors people started about her dating life, "I Did Something Bad" takes things up a notch by playing up the "snake" her celebrity feuds have made her out to be.
