The ZR1's "LT5" engine comes in the form of a 6.2-liter supercharged one that makes 755 horsepower, 715 pounds of torque.
The 2019 Corvette ZR1 goes on sale next spring.
GM revealed the auto at a studio sound stage on Sunday, and it will be featured at the Dubai Motor Show on Tuesday where it will be shown with many other six- and seven-figure luxury vehicles.
The top speed, Chevy says, is 210 miles per hour.
The engine is paired to either a seven-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission, the latter being a first for the ZR1. Considering the new model only weighs in at 1598kg (kerb), the mighty 'Vette should have no trouble pulling up on time no matter the speed.
"Its unprecedented performance puts all other global supercars on notice that the ZR1 is back".
A low stanchion-mounted rear wing is standard equipment, paired with a new front underwing to supply a 70-percent increase in downforce compared to a base Z06. Alternatively, you can specify the High Wing, which maximizes downforce and is optimized for going around corners at track speeds. Both of the wing options are tied into the chassis, which is how it is in the Corvette Racing C7.R version, ass well. Chevy didn't announce pricing, but it will probably come in at just over $100,000, continuing Corvette's pattern of offering bonkers performance for a relative song. The new Corvette ZR1 continues that trend with an engine that boasts an intercooled supercharger system with 52 percent more displacement than the Z06's LT4 supercharger. GM's first dual-fuel-injection system, which employs primary direct injection and supplemental port injection, helps the LT5 achieve its record output.
As an added bonus, the 2019 Corvette ZR1 can be specified with the optional Sebring Orange Design Package.
The ZR1 has also undergone a thorough redesign, with designers opening up the front fascia to allow for improved cooling, while the massive power bulge bonnet is required to fit the larger supercharger sitting atop the engine.
The Corvette ZR1 introduced today also debuted a dynamic, available Sebring Orange Design Package. The driver-focused, well-appointed cockpit includes standard leather-trimmed seats, with sueded microfiber inserts offered.
Inside, the ZR1 also adds some more elegant touches to the familiar C7 cabin, including carbon fiber trim and either competition sports seats or Napa leather heated and cooled seats.
It's good to be the King.
