The penultimate College Football Playoff Rankings were released Tuesday night, meaning the stage is officially set for conference championship week as the top teams in the nation will vie for the four spots that will be selected on Sunday.
Clemson took over the No. 1 spot in the rankings released on Tuesday.
Another wild card in the batch would be Auburn, No. 6 last weekend, but capable of turning up just about anywhere north of that tonight.
That is all that stands between Wisconsin and a berth in the College Football Playoff. That combined with an Ohio State win over Wisconsin would make it tough for the committee to hold out Alabama. That too would create a leapfrog risk for the Buckeyes as a conference champion jumping above the Tide at the end. Auburn lost to No. 1 Clemson and No. 17 LSU on the road, but it owns double-digit wins over No. 5 Alabama and No. 6 Georgia that are far superior to anything that Wisconsin has accomplished.

Wisconsin may be undefeated, but at No. 4 with only one win over a top-25 team (Northwestern), it's not going to get into the playoff even at 11-1. The Tigers, who beat Alabama 26-14 in Saturday's Iron Bowl, are the first two-loss team ever to be ranked in the top four.

At the top of the CFP rankings are No. 1 Clemson (11-1), No. 2 Auburn (10-2), No. 3 Oklahoma (11-1) and No. 4 Wisconsin (12-0).
The Big 12 and Big Ten championship games are responsible for potential chaos. They got a lot of flak for it a year ago, especially after Ohio State got crushed by Clemson.
Georgia would make it as a one-loss SEC champ. The Sooners and Buckeyes would both be 11-2 with a loss to a top-10 team and a loss to a 7-5 team.
Can Clemson lose to Miami and get in? In the Big 12, a win by Oklahoma over TCU would essentially clinch a playoff spot for the Sooners.
Three quick steals, one by Mahoney and two by Jonathan Dalton led to an Isaiah Gable layup, a Justin Carpenter dunk and a Daniel Simmons three-point play and Southeast Missouri State was up 61-46 with 10 minutes left.
"If you're Wisconsin, you've got everything you want right now".
The AAC victor is probably going to the Peach Bowl.
"They just worry about the next game". It has three wins over ranked teams, and could lose one this week if SC drops out, but might gain one if Louisville (8-4) enters.
