WhatsApp for iOS on Tuesday got updated with two new nifty features - out of which one allow users to watch a YouTube video within the messaging app, while the second feature let users to lock a voice recording. Even the other feature, the voice message recording lock is beneficial as it does not require the users to continue holding the record button to record a voice message. As of now, the users have to keep the recording button in chat windows pressed down for recording a voice message, and release it to send the recorded message.
However, there are some caveats, like you can not view photo/video while recording a locked voice message.
We have been seeing several new features being rolled out to WhatsApp via latest updates. This feature will be useful for people who use the WhatsApp record feature frequently.
WhatsApp wants to improve YouTube integration within its popular chat app. For instance, if a friend sends you a YouTube video - with this new feature you can watch the video on the app - which means WhatsApp will no longer direct you to the YouTube app for you to watch the video.
This latest update will allow user to play YouTube video in picture-in-picture mode so that they can move from one chat to another while watching the video.
Instead, the YouTube video will be displayed in a small window on your screen, which you can resize using a pinch gesture, or maximise to full screen. Sliding it towards the padlock button will let them remove their fingers from the screen while continuing recording voice messages.
As per the WABetaInfo report, in the new Android update, WhatsApp is also developing a new feature that will allow users to quickly switch from voice to video call while the voice call is still in progress. This new feature implemented in WhatsApp uses the Picture in Picture concept to view YouTube videos without opening it.
