"I think Roy Moore has his own following regardless of whether the president's involved or others".
Most senior Republicans in Alabama say they will vote for their party's Senate candidate on Tuesday despite allegations that Roy Moore preyed on teenage girls. "I had no encounter with them".
He said voters who cast a ballot for Democratic candidate Doug Jones are "voting against the President who they put in office at the highest level". Luther Strange who lost to Moore in the GOP primary. He has largely denied the allegations.
Moore, 70, has been accused by eight women of actions ranging from inappropriate behavior to sexual assault when he was in his 30s and, in most of the cases, the women were in their teens.
"I have written cards, graduation cards", Moore said in the interview that aired Sunday. When I saw these pictures on the advertisements of my opponent, I didn't recognize any of those women.
"I have known families", he said.
"These allegations are completely false", he said. I did not date underage women. "So these allegations are false".
Moore was dumped from his state's Supreme Court for ignoring a federal court order to remove a Ten Commandments monument from the state's judicial building and for opposing gay marriage after the U.S. Supreme Court effectively legalized it. "They know I stood for moral values, so they're attacking me in that area, and I understand that".
He blamed the allegations on the "scheme of political parties today". "That's just a simple political tactic".
