It will then leave NY at 12.25 pm the same day and land in Nairobi at 10.55 am the following day.
East Africa-based Ethiopian Airlines operates nonstop flights from the U.S. east coast on westbound flights returning to Addis Ababa. "Our guests are at the heart of everything we do at the airline and these two awards confirm our undeterred commitment to them".
Najib Balala, Kenya's secretary of tourism, said the flight will position Kenya as the gateway to Sub-Saharan Africa for leisure and business travel.
The Airline's Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Sebastian Mikosz attributed the achievement to the dedicated and talented staff at the airline that work hard to provide the best travel experience possible for its guests. This is expected to significantly reduce flight time between these two cities from more than 22 hours to 15 hours. "We are honored to contribute to the economic growth of Kenya and East Africa", Mikosz said.
"With over 40 American multinationals located in Nairobi and many more across Africa, the launch of daily flights is expected to further spur trade between America and Africa", the statement announcing the launch of the ticket sales reads. From New-York it will depart at 12:25 landing at JKIA at 10:55 the following day.
"The ultra-long-haul flight, unique to Kenya Airways network, will require 4 Pilots and 12 Flight attendants as well as 85 tons of fuel each way, making it an exceptional operation".
Up until now, numerous carriers have provided one-stop service from all across East Africa to the U.S. Gulf carriers all do so through their worldwide superhubs in Qatar, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Ethiopian Airways even operates a flight from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to Los Angeles, but that flight connects in Dublin. Though they are not known for luxury, extremely cheap tickets or any other differentiating factor, they are going to help passengers cut down on one measure that so often determines which ticket people purchase: time of travel. Its duration will be 15 hours eastbound and 14 hours westbound.
"This is a symbol of a comeback by Kenya Airways".
